Technical & Additional Services

Connect directly via NAPAfrica to Microsoft Azure Peering Service

Static destination-based routing that has to date been at the heart of wide-area networking is no longer good enough in an era when the user experience for the application is paramount, regardless of their geographical location. NAPAfrica now offers a direct access service to Microsoft Azure Peering Services – the primary goal being to minimise latency by reducing the round-trip time (RTT) from a user to the Microsoft Global Network.

NAPAfrica’s direct access service enhances client connectivity to Microsoft cloud services such as Azure, Office 365, Dynamics 365, TEAMS, or any other Microsoft services accessible via the public Internet. Public connectivity through the service is optimised for high reliability and minimal latency from cloud services to the end-user location.

Making use of the direct access service at NAPAfrica offers the following benefits:

  • High-speed data transfer – 1G, 10G and 100G port options
  • No minimum Bandwidth requirements
  • Improved fault tolerance
  • Traffic insights such as latency reporting and prefix monitoring
  • Optimum Network Hops (AS Hops) from Microsoft’s Cloud
  • Route analytics and statistics – Events for Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) route anomalies (leak/hijack detection), and suboptimal routing
  • Low-cost peering: no membership, port or cross-connect fees

Connecting to the Microsoft Azure Peering Service at NAPAfrica also gives the assurance that the traffic for the prefixes registered with a Peering Service connection enters and exits the nearest Microsoft network point-of-presence (PoP) locations on the Microsoft global network. Microsoft ensures that the networking traffic egressing from the prefixes registered with Peering Service connections takes the nearest Microsoft Edge PoP locations on the Microsoft global network.

Enterprises making use of the Microsoft Azure Peering Service at NAPAfrica have access to additional Peering Service telemetry such as user latency measures to the Microsoft network, BGP route monitoring, and alerts against leaks and hijacks by registering the Peering Service connection in the Azure portal.

Enterprises looking for Internet-first access to the cloud, considering SD-WAN architecture or with high usage of Microsoft SaaS services will benefit from unlimited bandwidth, optimal routing and geo-redundancy, along with improved network visibility through the telemetry tools.
